MADRID, Spain--(Business Wire)--
Pancho Campo, president and founder of The Wine Academy of Spain,
passed the three-part examination administered by the Institute of
Masters of Wine becoming the first Spanish Master of Wine (MW). As a
new MW, Campo joins an elite group of less than 276 others who have
earned the title worldwide since 1953. (

"This has been a long, hard but very exciting journey," said
Campo. "The Institute of Masters of Wine has provided me with a much
more global view of the wine industry and has also helped me realize
the responsibility I have as a spokesperson for Spanish wines. I hope
this achievement will boost the Spanish wine industry."

Campo has a keen sense for identifying the topics and issues that
today's wine enthusiasts and community care about. In 2003, he founded
The Wine Academy of Spain and developed the Spanish Wine Education
international certification program. Today, The Wine Academy of Spain
is the representative of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) for
Spain offering courses in Rioja, Murcia, Madrid, Catalonia, Valencia,
Navarra and many other regions. The Academy have become pioneers in
the research of climate change in the wine industry and created the
World Conference on Climate Change and Wine, held in Barcelona in
2008. Campo was trained by former Vice President Al Gore and belongs
to The Climate Project.

Campo's first action as a newly titled MW brings him to the United
States next month. Campo will conduct the Spanish Wine Education
certification and Spanish wines master class October 21-23 in New
York. The intensive course and tasting features a two-day review of
Spain's diverse wine regions followed by a half-day practical exam.
The master class tasting will highlight some of Spain's most iconic
wines. Online registration is available at
