BP adds Tengiz crude to BTC pipeline

LONDON Oct 7 (Reuters) - BP (BP.L) plans to introduce Tengiz crude oil into its Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline after production problems caused by partial shutdowns of its Azeri field, BP said on its website on Tuesday.

"First deliveries into BTC are expected in the second half of October for arrival in Ceyhan exports in mid-November. The initial rates are expected to be relatively low in volume," BP said on its website.

Tengiz will be shipped across the Caspian from Kazakhstan to Baku. It is not as sweet as Azeri but is a lighter crude oil and yields more light products at the refinery and less residue, BP said.

The company said it expects there to be changes to the quality of Azeri Light crude exported from Ceyhan as a result of the partial shutdown of the Azeri field within its ACG complex.
