Sampo says Exista decided to sell stake in it

HELSINKI | Tue Oct 7, 2008 1:49am EDT

HELSINKI Oct 7 (Reuters) - Sampo (SAMAS.HE) said on Tuesday its largest investor, Iceland's Exista EXISTA.IC, had decided to sell its near 20-percent stake in the Finnish insurer.

A Sampo spokeswoman had no further details. Exista was not immediately available for comment.

The decision to sell comes four days after an Exista spokesman was quoted in the Finnish media as saying the investment firm was happy with its stake in Sampo.
