Canada opposition boss concedes defeat, won't quit
OTTAWA |
OTTAWA (Reuters) - Stephane Dion, the leader of Canada's opposition Liberal Party, on Wednesday conceded defeat in Tuesday's general election but said he would not step down.
"Canadians are asking me to be the leader of the opposition and I accept that responsibility as an honor," he told a rally of supporters in Montreal.
The Liberals lost badly to the ruling Conservatives, putting in their worst performance since 1984.
