LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - CBS' new drama series "The Mentalist" has been picked up for a full season.

The show, which stars Simon Baker as an investigator who uses his paranormal abilities to solve crimes, has emerged as one of the most promising new series this fall, as well as being a good fit for CBS' Tuesday crime lineup.

The pickup, adding nine episodes for a full-season order, comes on the heels of "Mentalist's" third airing Tuesday. The show has averaged 16.1 million viewers and a 3.8 rating/9 share in adults age 18-49, ranking as the top program in the Tuesday 9 p.m. time slot.

"Mentalist" joins two other freshman series picked up for a full season, the CW's "90210" and Fox's "Fringe."
