Holy Name Province Franciscan Friars Release First-Ever DVD Telling the Story
of Their Diverse Ministries

Free Viewing Available Online As Prelude to the 800th Anniversary of the
Founding of the Franciscan Order

NEW YORK, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- In anticipation of the upcoming 800th
anniversary in 2009 of the founding of the Franciscan Order, Holy Name
Province of Franciscan Friars has created the first-ever DVD describing its
wide variety of ministries entitled Holy Name Province: Love at Work(R).

Free viewing of Holy Name Province: Love at Work(R) is available through the
Province's Web site at http://www.hnp.org

Holy Name Province is the largest group of Franciscan Friars in the U.S., with
a community of more than 350 Roman Catholic priests and brothers serving an
area from New England to Florida through six highly visible ministries serving
the spiritual, social and educational needs of diverse populations.

Holy Name Province: Love at Work(R) highlights these ministries, which include
parishes - where the Friars serve 31 parishes in 10 states, higher education -
and their sponsorship of St. Bonaventure University and Siena College in
upstate New York, urban ministry, preaching and spiritual centers, foreign
missions, and direct service to the poor--where they continue to operate the
longest-running breadline in the U.S.

"Many people who may be familiar with an individual Friar in a parish or
college setting are frequently surprised to learn of the diverse scope and
spiritual richness found in all of the Holy Name Province ministries," said
Rev. John O'Connor, OFM, Provincial Minister.

"Our new DVD helps to show how the Friars of Holy Name Province joyfully and
prayerfully answer the call from St. Francis of Assisi to be 'heralds of the
gospel in the midst of society' through these wonderful ministries," he said

Love at Work(R) is a registered mark of St. Anthony's Guild and is used with
permission.
