Ferring Celebrates Winner of 2008 My Little Miracle Essay Contest During
National Infertility Awareness Week

Contest Brings Hope and Awareness to Millions of Couples Struggling With
Infertility

PARSIPPANY, N.J., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Ferring Pharmaceuticals is honoring
12 lucky families who won the national 2008 My Little Miracle Essay Contest
for their heart-warming and inspirational stories of their journey to
parenthood. The winners' 'little miracles' were born with the help of
Ferring's family of fertility products. The fifth annual contest celebrates
the birth of children who were conceived using Ferring's MENOPUR(R)
(menotropins for injection, USP) and/or BRAVELLE(R) (urofollitropin for
injection, purified).

The grand prize winner, Sara Braunschweig of Delano, MN will receive $10,000
for an education fund for her six-month-old daughter, Ella, conceived after
complications from her husband's vasectomy reversal. Despite many challenges,
and being told by a physician that having a child wasn't possible, the couple
was determined not to accept "no" for an answer. Thanks to the wonder of
fertility treatments, Sara and her husband Michael are the proud parents of a
'little miracle.'

"Each story that we received conveyed a true message of hope and inspiration,"
said Wayne Anderson, president, Ferring Pharmaceuticals. "We are delighted
that our treatments played a role in Sara and Michael's success and hope that
more couples will be inspired by their story. With National Infertility
Awareness Week upon us, we are focusing our attention on the millions of
couples who are struggling to build a family and encourage them to never give
up their dream of achieving parenthood."

"My husband and I were elated to learn that we were the grand prize winner of
this year's My Little Miracle essay contest," said Sara. "We hope that
families who are struggling to conceive will read our story and learn that
there is hope. I am truly blessed to have a child and now we have a head start
on her education, thanks to this wonderful program from Ferring."

Sara Braunschweig's Story
Sara's story begins as a teenager entering college with a message from her
father: be confident in yourself; live your life mentally, physically and
spiritually balanced; and seek joy. The later message, seek joy, was the
resounding piece of advice that has stayed with Sara during the past 17 years.
After graduating college and spending years climbing up the corporate ladder
and earning good money, Sara realized that all of this meant nothing if she
didn't have anyone to share it with. After cultivating a friendship and bond
with her co-worker, Michael, it evolved into something more and eventually,
marriage. Immediately after marrying, they started to try for a baby. The only
catch was that Michael had had a vasectomy at the young age of 26. Determined
to have a family, Michael underwent a vasectomy reversal and the couple
immediately started trying to have a baby. Unfortunately, as months passed,
Sara and Michael were not achieving a pregnancy. After consulting with the
doctor, Sara and Michael asked the obvious question, "So how can we have
kids?" The doctor looked at them and said, "You can't, adopt." Since this was
an unacceptable answer to Sara and Michael, they sought the help of the
physicians at Reproductive Medicine and Infertility Associates (RMIA) in
Woodbury, MN. With the help of the medical team at RMIA, Sara decided to
undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment and was prescribed BRAVELLE and
MENOPUR and responded beautifully to the medications. After conceiving on the
very first transfer, Sara and Michael welcomed their daughter Ella into their
family on April 9, 2008. In her essay, Sara speaks of the joy that the birth
of Ella has brought her:

"I'm so glad I listened to my dad's advice all those years ago. And with that,
I say to all the desperate want-to-be mothers out there -- seek your own joy
-- wherever and however that may be. Listen to the depths of you to guide you
to where you find that joy. I found my joy. I felt it as I rocked my baby girl
to sleep last night."

"We at RMIA are so happy to have contributed to Sara and Michael's dream of
becoming parents," said Jacques Stassart, MD, director of IVF services. "IVF
can be a long and challenging process for some couples, however, the end
result is always worth all of the hard work. In Sara and Michael's case, it's
a beautiful baby girl and a substantial start to her college education. We are
proud to be a part of Sara's 'little miracle.'"

Other Winners
Runner-up Amy Crider of Jacksonville, FL, will receive $2,500 for an education
fund for her five-month-old daughter, Reece. Ten honorable mention winners
from around the country will each receive a $500 education fund.

About MENOPUR and BRAVELLE
MENOPUR and BRAVELLE are not indicated in women with ovarian failure,
uncontrolled thyroid and adrenal dysfunction, pituitary or hormone dependent
