LEXINGTON, Ky., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- VirtualHealth
Technologies, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: VHGI), the parent company of Envoii
Healthcare, L.L.C., announced that it has finalized a licensing agreement with
Private Access to include the ENVOII System Tray Notifier(TM) technology as
part of Private Access' innovative software platform. Private Access, Inc., a
developer of easy to use and powerful web-based tools that allow patients and
healthcare professionals to control both the privacy and accessibility of
confidential personal health records, will be presenting its ground-breaking
product suite at the Health 2.0 Conference in San Francisco today.
"We plan to launch early next year a series of applications that harmonize
an individual's right to privacy and to manage access to that information for
those who most need it and are authorized to see it," says Robert Shelton,
Founder and CEO of Private Access. "As a participant in the discussion about
how the issues of privacy, confidentiality and security will impact consumer
confidence in Health 2.0, we'll debut our online products that particularly
address the recruitment of study subjects for research and clinical trials."
Shelton continues, "We are particularly excited to be able to add the ENVOII
System Tray Notifier (TM) as part of our offering."
Patient recruitment for clinical trials today is difficult, time-consuming
and expensive (estimated at over $1,800 per subject). Further, it's estimated
that 7.7 million subjects are needed to meet clinical research demands. The
company's RecruitSource(TM) product will make it possible for researchers to
identify and recruit potential study subjects in a fraction of the time and at
about one-tenth the cost.
A companion product, TrialsFinder(TM), is designed to support the mission
and efforts of disease advocacy organizations, social networks and online
communities to help their members locate the most relevant clinical trials and
research studies, simultaneously populating the RecruitSource(TM) database for
search purposes. Underlying the feasibility of these applications is
PrivacyLayer(TM), a consumer-centric platform for assuring compliance with
applicable state and federal privacy laws and -- importantly -- each
consumer's personal privacy preferences.
"Where data liquidity yields immense benefits to both patients and
providers, it's essential that the privacy conundrum be solved," says Shelton.
"Private Access offers an easy way for all stakeholders to verify that patient
privacy preferences are followed." Prompt approval and efficient fulfillment
of requests are essential in the system, and by virtue of the licensing of
ENVOII Healthcare's System Tray Notifier(TM) the capability will exist to
provide single click access to critical messages within Private Access's
platform for extending trust. A sophisticated message notification agent
subsystem, the ENVOII STN gives registered users complete security and ease of
access to the events that concern them.
The Envoii subsystem is licensed from Envoii Healthcare, L.L.C., a
wholly-owned subsidiary of VirtualHealth Technologies, Inc. (VHGI.OB). "We
are delighted that Private Access has chosen to license our technology as an
enhancement to their existing capabilities. Most especially because they share
our same commitment to the proper security and privacy of patient information
without sacrificing access," says Deborah Jenkins, board member of
VirtualHealth Technologies, Inc. and of Private Access, Inc. "We at
VirtualHealth Technologies believe that Private Access delivers a new
environment of trust for personal health information and that its unique
applications bring refreshing opportunities for exchanging vital patient
information, quickly and securely."
In early 2009, Private Access will launch its first products allowing
researchers to use internet search technology to find study subjects who meet
the criteria of particular research initiatives, all with those subjects'
express permission. "With Private Access' applications, we're empowering
consumers to manage their privacy while simultaneously arming stakeholders
with the tools that improve their access to care," says Marc Kirshbaum,
President and COO of Private Access and co-presenter at the Health 2.0
Conference. "Private Access brings balance to the critical need for timely
health information -- vital information that is equally private and
accessible."
