Strong American Schools Chairman Romer to Iowa Leaders: Education is
Fundamental to America's Economy

A strong economy needs a well educated workforce to drive it and while the
economy continues to dominate the news, education is a constant issue for
middle-Americans. Strong American Schools Chairman, Governor Roy Romer, will
be in Cedar Falls, IA addressing business and community leaders at the
University of Northern Iowa's Distinguished Lecture Series on Tuesday, October
28th. Romer will discuss how America's economic prosperity is being
jeopardized by the United States' failure to keep pace with the education
gains of other industrialized countries.

Strong American Schools is a nonpartisan public awareness and advocacy effort
aimed at elevating discussion among America's leaders about the need for
education reform. The organization seeks to unite all Americans around the
crucial mission of improving the nation's public schools by elevating the
discussion to a national stage. The organization believes three common-sense
solutions should be included in education reform: effective teachers in every
classroom, increased time and support for student learning and common,
rigorous standards.
