Aurora Health Care and ECRS Reach Midway Point of Enterprise-Wide Retail
Automation Project
Largest Wisconsin Healthcare System Streamlines Store Operations and Complies
with new IRS Regulations for Acceptance of Health Benefit Debit Cards

BOONE, N.C., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- ECR Software Corporation (ECRS), an
industry-leading provider of pharmacy point-of-sale and front-end management
solutions, and Aurora Health Care today announced the successful installation
of over 60 Aurora retail locations, marking the midway point of an enterprise
rollout. The ECRS solution will be installed in up to 130 Aurora Pharmacy and
Aurora Retail Stores after project completion later this year. ECRS was
selected by Aurora Health Care to provide a comprehensive retail automation
solution, combining technology and consulting services, to its diverse
business.
"As an integrated health system throughout eastern Wisconsin, it is
important to have the type of technology that is adaptable to multiple
settings," said Kimberly Hodgkinson, Director of Finance for Aurora Health
Care Ventures. "ECRS offers the tools that help us to better track the needs
of our patients and customers and offer the services and health supplies that
meet the individual needs of each person who relies on Aurora for their health
and wellness."
In order to further meet the needs of their patients, and react to
evolving industry standards, Aurora will be installing Catapult 5.0 enabling
them to achieve IIAS certification for acceptance of FSA/HSA debit cards.
IIAS certification is required by IRS law and must be completed before January
1, 2009 so that pharmacies can continue to accept health benefit debit cards.
"Even though the majority of our stores qualify for the 90% exemption rule
as currently written by the IRS, our customers expect us to give them easy
access to their healthcare dollars," Hodgkinson continues. "It's Aurora's
obligation to be ready to accommodate our customers' payment choices."
"Reducing cost and increasing productivity by way of retail automation is
mutually beneficial to both the pharmacy retailer and their patients," said
ECRS President Peter Catoe. "We're honored to have been selected by an
industry leader, such as Aurora Health Care, to provide this type of
automation in their retail locations. ECRS is committed to solving the
complex and changing automation requirements faced by pharmacy retailers."
