WHAT: South Coast Plaza's live 96-ft. white fir holiday tree is
scheduled to arrive at its Orange County home in Town Center
Park in Costa Mesa, California on Friday, October 24 at 7:00
a.m. It will make the 650-mile journey from the Mt. Shasta
area of Northern California on the largest allowable-sized
trailer.
A 200-ton crane will lift the tree into position at
approximately 9:00 a.m. on October 24. This early arrival is
necessary, as it takes three weeks to adorn the tree with
20,000 colored lights.
On Thursday, November 20 at 6:00 p.m., the 27th Annual Tree
Lighting Ceremony takes place. Free to the public, guests can
hail Santa's arrival as holiday music warms the air during the
lighting of the 96-foot tree. Students from the Orange County
High School of the Arts will perform at the tree lighting
ceremony, one of Orange County's oldest and best beloved
holiday traditions.
