CHICAGO--(Business Wire)--
Each day, thousands of commuters stream through Chicago's Union
Station on their way to work. Today, they were greeted by Lucy Davis,
most famous for her role as receptionist Dawn Tinsley on the BBC's
international sensation "The Office," who was on hand as MetLife
called attention to the importance of making informed decisions during
this fall's open enrollment season. The open enrollment period is
often the one time each year when millions of workers are given an
opportunity to make their employee benefits selections for the coming
year.

"We were glad to have the chance to meet so many hardworking
Chicagoans and discuss ways for them to make the most of their
employee benefits during this open enrollment season," said Ric
Ritter, vice president, MetLife's Institutional Business.

"Making the 'right' benefits decisions can be challenging
regardless of the economic environment. However, today's economy
requires a greater level of engagement in the employee benefits
decision-making process - from selecting the most appropriate medical
plan or life insurance coverage to protecting income in the event of a
disability," added Ritter. "Making uninformed benefits decisions in
the short term could potentially lead to more out-of-pocket expenses
in the long term. In these cost-conscious times, that's something most
workers want to avoid."

At today's event, MetLife, the largest U.S. life insurer and
leading provider of employee benefits, encouraged commuters at Union
Station to gathered around a 15-foot inflatable watercooler and access
the company's new Employee Benefits Simplifier tool. By entering basic
information, the tool suggests to workers which benefits might be
appropriate for "people like them." The free tool, available at
www.metlife.com/benefits, also offers suggested actionable life-stage
recommendations - particularly when it comes to coverage levels and
benefits selections.
