NEW YORK--(Business Wire)--
IQPC and Finance IQ have recently announced their IFRS Summit,
taking place in New York City on December 4-5, 2008. The conference
will offer CPE credits to attendees.
The IFRS Summit couldn't come at a better time. Recently, the New
York Times, Washington Post, CFO.com and other mainstream media
outlets have warned the auditing and finance industries about the
future changes that will take place with financial reporting
standards. All public companies in the United States must change from
GAAP to IFRS by the year 2014. It is time to start implementing a
transition process. The Summit will walk through the logistics of
setting up an IFRS strategic conversion plan and will discuss the
overall adoption issues of IFRS in the US market.
While IFRS experts are hard to come by, Finance IQ has managed to
gather prominent companies to speak at the December 4-5 Summit:
-- Tom Jones, Vice Chairman, International Accounting Standards
Board (IASB)
-- Tim Deacon, VP, International Accounting & Policy and IFRS
Conversion Project Lead, Manulife Financial
-- Xuehui Li, Officer, World Bank Group
-- Jean Pare, VP Financial Reporting, Bombadier Inc.
-- Andreas Rothe, SVP and Global Controller, Parsons
Brinckerhoff, Inc.
-- Jeff Mahoney, General Counsel, Council of Institutional
Investors
-- Andreas Chrysostomou, Managing Director, Duff and Phelps
-- Tyrone Cotie, C.A, Director of Corporate Finance & Investor
Relations, Clearwater Seafoods Income Fund
Graduate departments in finance and public accounting must also
learn the new reporting standards and incorporate them into their
curricula. Survey results released Sept. 4, 2008 by KPMG LLP and the
American Accounting Association show that "Relatively few universities
currently have a strategy in place to incorporate International
Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) into accounting curricula in the
2008-2009 academic year." IQPC is offering a special $999 pricing to
those in academia.
