Local Girl Scouts Raise Money for FEMA with help from Food Town and Sunkist's
Take a Stand(R) Program
HOUSTON, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ --
WHO: On Saturday, 11-year-old Rama Imad from Houston, TX and her
friends will "take a stand" for an important cause in their
community, thanks to support from Sunkist Growers and Food Town.
Rama, a local Girl Scout, decided to "take a stand" and sell
fresh-squeezed lemonade this weekend to raise money for FEMA, in
order to contribute to Hurricane Ike relief throughout Texas.
This cause is close to Rama's heart because her home was
affected by the storm, but she also wants to help all those who
may have completely lost their homes or businesses last month.
WHAT: The Sunkist Take a Stand(R) campaign is back for a fifth year,
giving away 20,000 free lemonade stands to kids who pledged to
raise money for a charity of their choice. Since its inception,
Take a Stand has raised an estimated $2.8 million for charity by
kids in every state in the U.S. and every province in Canada,
one glass of fresh-squeezed Sunkist lemonade at a time.
Kids ages 7-12 looking to join Rama in raising money for a good
cause can still get involved by visiting
