Peabody Energy (NYSE: BTU) Declares Dividend of $0.06 Per Share

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The board of directors of
Peabody Energy today declared a regular quarterly dividend on its common stock
of $0.06 per share.  The dividend is payable on Nov. 28, 2008, to holders of
record on Nov. 6, 2008.
    Peabody Energy (NYSE: BTU) is the world's largest private-sector coal
company, with 2007 sales of 238 million tons and $4.6 billion in revenues. Its
coal products fuel approximately 10 percent of all U.S. electricity generation
and 2 percent of worldwide electricity.
