Las Vegas' Nathan Adelson Hospice is Going Green for Make a Difference Day

Harrah's Entertainment, NV Energy, Green Choice Paints and the Springs
Preserve Unite Together to Provide Hospice with 'Green' Upgrades

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Nathan Adelson Hospice, Southern
Nevada's largest non-profit hospice care provider, is undergoing green
upgrades on Nevada's Make a Difference Day, Saturday, October 25th.

    An extensive team of workers from Harrah's Entertainment, NV Energy, Green
Choice Paints, the Springs Preserve, building experts from Lucchesi Galati and
a number of other organizations will continue working on upgrades and updates
throughout the week.
    "With the economic downturn and the issues facing the health-care industry
today, these renovations are that much more appreciated," said Carole Fisher,
president and CEO of Nathan Adelson Hospice.  "The work being done here by
this wonderful group of volunteers will allow us to continue to care for our
patients, their friends and family in a healthier, more sustainable
environment.    The much-needed renovations at the hospice include:

    -- Refurbishing the public restrooms by installing new water-efficient
       toilets, sinks and faucets and installing new countertops;
    -- Giving the bird aviary a fresh look using eco-friendly paints and
       supplies;
    -- Replacing light fixtures with more energy efficient bulbs and fixtures;
    -- Cleaning common areas;
    -- Painting doors and window trim using eco-friendly paints and supplies;
    -- Weather stripping doors and windows to reduce heating and cooling
       needs;
    -- Switching out all batteries with re-chargeable batteries; and
    -- Working on planting desert-friendly landscaping around the campus.

Nathan Adelson Hospice include Anning-Johnson Company, Ecolab, Home Energy
Connection, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, Love Engineering, Moen, Nedco Supply,
Nevada Attorney General's Office, Nevada Decor Source, Ruiter Construction,
Sierra Air and Stiles and Associates.
    The Nathan Adelson Hospice provides over $1 million annually in
uncompensated care and is the only hospice in Southern Nevada that provides
care to pediatric patients.  With over 300 employees and 250 volunteers,
services include in-home and in-patient care reaching the entire valley and
