THE STRAITS TIMES

Las Vegas Sands (LVS.N) will not be able to fully open its Singapore casino-resort at Marina Bay by end-2009 as originally planned due to construction delays. Separately, Genting International GNTG.SI has asked for permission to delay the opening of some of the hotels and entertainment facilities that are scheduled to open in early 2010.

Singapore taxi operators will drop a 30-Singapore-cents fuel surcharge to reflect lower diesel prices and in response to lower demand for cabs.

BUSINESS TIMES

- The sale of Singapore power company PowerSeraya remains on track with state investor receiving bids from six companies including Sembcorp (SCIL.SI) and Keppel Corp (KPLM.SI). The sale will likely be closed by early December.

- Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI) will reduce its number of flights to various Asian cities due to falling demand. The affected destinations include Seoul, Osaka, Bangalore, Chennai, Penang and Ho Chi Minh City.
