Enbridge says can still issue debt despite crunch

CALGARY, Alberta Nov 5 (Reuters) - Enbridge Inc (ENB.TO) said on Wednesday it should still be able to issue debt despite the current credit crunch.

Richard Bird, Enbridge's chief financial officer, said on a conference call that the company, Canada's No. 2 pipeline firm, had been given indications that it can still issue term debt. Though spreads are higher than the company planned and it has the liquidity to wait for narrowing spreads, he said it won't wait long to tap the debt markets.
