WASHINGTON | Fri Nov 7, 2008 11:41am EST

WASHINGTON Nov 7 (Reuters) - The U.S. Treasury is looking for a few good asset managers to oversee a voluntary capital purchase program in which financial institutions can access U.S. government capital, the department said on Thursday.

The department said it posted a job notice to financial institutions interested in providing asset management services for management of Treasury's equity or debt positions in public and private financial institutions participating in programs under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act.

All eligible applicants who meet the requirements and guidelines should submit requests by Nov. 13, Treasury said.

The department said the notice is not for asset managers of troubled mortgage-related securities or mortgage loans. (Reporting by Nancy Waitz; Editing by Jan Paschal )
