Bank of Ireland reviewing UK mortgage book - paper

DUBLIN | Wed Nov 12, 2008 2:46am EST

DUBLIN Nov 12 (Reuters) - Bank of Ireland (BKIR.I) is reviewing its continued mortgage lending in the UK due to the weakness in the property sector there, the Irish Independent reported on Wednesday.

A Bank of Ireland spokesman declined to comment on the report, which he said was speculation.

The Irish Independent, which did not cite sources, said the review by Bank of Ireland (BKIR.L) was believed to be at an early stage and could result in job cuts in its UK business. (Reporting by Jonathan Saul; Editing by David Holmes)
