"Lizzie McGuire"s Hilary Duff to get own TV show
LOS ANGELES |
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actress Hilary Duff, who made her name as the star of the Disney Channel's "Lizzie McGuire", is returning to television in her own series, NBC said on Friday.
Duff, now 21, has signed a one-year development deal with NBC that sees the former teen favorite star getting her own series and appear in other NBC network television shows.
Details of the deal have yet to be worked out for Duff, who launched a movie and singing career on the back of her success as bubbly middle-schooler Lizzie McGuire in the international hit TV show between 2001 and 2004.
Teri Weinberg, executive vice president of NBC Entertainment said Duff was "an incredibly versatile talent with a huge following."
The Texas blond starred in the teen movies "A Cinderella Story" (2004) and "Material Girls" in 2006 and has three movies due for release in 2009 but has yet to recapture the huge popular success she enjoyed with "Lizzie McGuire".
