Panopto and Automatic Sync Team Up to Deliver Integrated Closed Captioning
Lecture-Capture Solution for CalPoly

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Panopto, Inc. and Automatic Sync
Technologies announced today the integration of Panopto's lecture,
presentation and meeting capture system with Automatic Sync's closed
captioning service.

The two companies jointly developed an integrated solution on behalf of
CalPoly in San Luis Obispo, CA, providing a simple and seamless workflow for
capturing, captioning, and publishing classroom lectures in one simple step.
Panopto has also leveraged the resulting captioning data to enable advanced
navigation and search features. Viewers can rapidly navigate through the
transcript, clicking on any word in the transcript to begin playing the
lecture at that exact point, or using text searches to get directly to the
point of interest in the lecture.

For colleges and universities charged with meeting federal and state
accessibility mandates, CourseCast's elegant and simple workflow makes
compliance a breeze. CalPoly in San Luis Obispo, CA is an early adopter of
captioning with CourseCast. Dan Mull, Coordinator for Media Distribution and
Services at CalPoly said, "At CalPoly we recognize the powerful benefits of
lecture capture technology for our students, but we also recognize the need to
ensure this technology is accessible to all of our students. A solution that
is simple, fast, and scalable is critical to being able to deliver these
benefits to our students; Panopto and Automatic Sync have met this challenge
head on. By leveraging the caption data to provide lecture navigation and
search features, the CourseCast platform will allow us to create content that
is both accessible and useful to our entire user population."

Compliance with Section 508 and other accessibility mandates is an important
component to ensuring continued adoption of Panopto's CourseCast system. "The
partnership between Automatic Sync and Panopto serves to address market demand
for video delivered over the web that is both compliant with accessibility
standards and is accessible to viewers in the deaf and hard of hearing
community; we are looking forward to working with CourseCast users to meet
these needs and help deliver a higher quality experience to the end viewers,"
said Kevin Erler, President of Automatic Sync Technologies.

Brad Winney, Panopto's President and CEO added: "Panopto's lecture capture
system has enjoyed widespread adoption by colleges and universities across the
globe. Panopto offers tremendous benefits to all users, but one important
user segment receives particularly significant advantages: Panopto allows
students with disabilities to access lecture material when they want, where
they want, and how they want. Panopto has long recognized the significance of
lecture capture for this population and is pleased to work with Automatic Sync
and CalPoly in raising the bar for accessibility even further with the
announcement of integrated support for closed captioning."
