IBM says plans to acquire Transitive Corp

BOSTON (Reuters) - International Business Machines Corp said on Tuesday that it plans to acquire privately-owned Transitive Corp, whose technology helps businesses use software on IBM computers that was designed to run on rival systems.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Armonk, New York-based IBM already bundles programs from Los Gatos, California-based Transitive with software that it packages with some of its computer systems.
