NEW YORK Nov 26 (Reuters) - Valero Energy Corp (VLO.N), the largest U.S. refiner, reported flaring as a result of a brief compressor outage at its Houston, Texas oil refinery, according to a filing late Tuesday with state regulators.

"The flaring event is under investigation and has been attributed to a temporary shutdown of the SATS gas compressor," Valero said in the filing with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

"The affected equipment (compressor) was restarted without further upset," the company added, noting that one source of emissions was the gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracker at the 130,000 barrel-per-day Houston refinery. (Reporting by Haitham Haddadin; Editing by John Picinich)
