Canada govt may seek to suspend Parliament - aide
OTTAWA |
OTTAWA Dec 2 (Reuters) - The Canadian government may request that Parliament be suspended temporarily to stop the opposition from defeating it and forming a coalition government, an aide to Prime Minister Stephen Harper said on Tuesday.
The aide said the Conservative government will use "every legal means" at its disposal to prevent the Liberals, New Democrats and Bloc Quebecois from following through on plans to take power just six weeks after Harper's Conservatives were reelected.
The three opposition parties formally signed a coalition agreement on Monday. (Reporting by Randall Palmer; editing by Peter Galloway)
