Company to Discuss Industry’s Largest Mobile WiMAX System and Implications for
the Region
SAN FRANCISCO & RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil--(Business Wire)--
Join SOMA Networks, Inc., (www.somanetworks.com) at the WiMAX Forum Congress
Latin America 2008, BOOTH # 27, to learn about the company’s presence and
initiatives in Latin America. The global WiMAX company, with headquarters in the
US, is focused on bridging the digital divide in emerging markets using WiMAX
technology. As a result, it has significant projects in Asia and Africa, along
with a contract in India for the industry’s largest Mobile WiMAX system.

According to Frost & Sullivan, WiMAX penetration is expected to grow throughout
the five major markets in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and
Mexico) at a compound annual growth rate of 97.7 percent through 2012. Latin
America represents an ideal opportunity for SOMA to deliver multimedia Broadband
to the Home (BTTH) services to businesses and consumers alike. The company
recently opened a sales office in Sao Paulo and is in discussions with a number
of regional carriers.

SOMA is a pioneer in bringing WiMAX technology to India. As the select operating
partner with Bharat Sanchar Nigam, Ltd (BSNL), India’s state-owned and largest
telecommunications provider, SOMA is helping India realize its “Vision 2010” to
bring broadband services to the country’s underserved markets. Throughout this
deployment, BSNL and SOMA will deliver a range of multimedia services to an area
serving more than 200 million people.

SOMA has identified many similarities in the market needs of Latin America (i.e.
low penetration of broadband to homes, SME's, medical and educational
facilities) that can best be served by WiMAX technology. Based on expertise
gained with the BSNL deployment, SOMA is well positioned to replicate this model
in Latin America. By working in partnership with operators, SOMA Networks can
quickly bring affordable high-speed, multi-media access to the region.

In addition to displaying the SOMA FlexMAX Mobile WiMAX System at the show,
Jonathan Jaeger, SOMA’s Director of Corporate Strategy, will be hosting a
speaker session on December 3 at 17:25, entitled, “Rural Communities Empowered:
Strategies for Addressing the Digital Divide with WiMAX.

SOMA Networks, a principal member of the WiMAX Forum and Gold sponsor of WiMAX
Forum Congress Latin America 2008, is helping people to access the world with
WiMAX by offering communication providers the industry’s only fully converged,
all-IP wireless multimedia application platform that accelerates time-to-market,
minimizes risk, and reduces cost to deploy differentiated applications.
