(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 8:30 a.m. EST on Monday:

*HELMAND - Afghan and U.S.-led coalition forces killed an insurgent in Nahr Surkh district, about 530 km (305 miles) from Kabul, on Sunday, U.S. military said.

GHAZNI - A car laden with explosives exploded outside government buildings in the city of Ghazni on Monday, 130 km (80 miles) southwest of Kabul, killing one civilian as well as the two would-be suicide bombers in the car, police said. The blast went off prematurely and also wounded seven civilians.
