EDPR's Horizon agrees $265 mln U.S. investment
LISBON |
LISBON Dec 29 (Reuters) - The U.S. wind power subsidiary of Portugal's EDP Renewables (EDPR.LS) will get $265 million in investment over the next few weeks from a consortium of U.S. institutional equity investors, EDPR said on Monday.
The company said its Horizon unit had agreed the deal with a group formed by JPM Capital Corp., New York Life Insurance Co. and New York Life Insurance and Annuity Corp. envisaging investment in a portfolio of wind farm projects that started operations in 2008.
Some $215 million will be invested before the end of this month and the rest in January, the world's fourth-largest wind power company in terms of installed capacity said in a statement published on Portugal's CMVM stock market regulator's web site (www.cmvm.pt/cmvm).
EDPR stocks rose 3 percent to nearly 5.06 euros in early trading, outperforming the broader market, up 1 percent.
Apart from the Horizon subsidiary acquired last year, the company has wind generation parks in Portugal, France, Spain and Poland. (Reporting by Andrei Khalip; Editing by Hans Peters)
