SPDR Gold Trust bullion holdings rise 5 t to record

LONDON Dec 30 (Reuters) - The world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, the SPDR Gold Trust (GLD), said its bullion holdings rose nearly 5 tonnes on Dec. 29 to a record high.

The trust, which issues securities backed by physical stocks of gold, now holds 780.23 tonnes of bullion, against 775.33 tonnes on Dec. 26. Its holdings are up 22.1 tonnes or 3 percent from the beginning of December. (Reporting by Jan Harvey; Editing by Anthony Barker)
