COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - An unidentified gunman shot and wounded two Israeli men at a shopping mall in Odense in central Denmark, police said on Wednesday.

Odense police told Reuters they were searching for the gunman but could not confirm Danish media reports that he spoke Arabic.

The attack took place on the fifth day of Israeli air strikes against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.

"We don't know anything about the motive and we don't know the nationality of the shooter," a duty officer said.

Police said they would review security camera footage.

Danish media said one man was injured in the leg and the other in the arm but their wounds were not life-threatening.

Rescue services declined to comment on their condition.

Police said the pair had been in Denmark for about a week.
