KISSIMMEE, Fla., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Linda Vasquez
Littlefield formally announces her bid for U.S. Senate in the wake of Jeb
Bush's decision not to run. Vasquez Littlefield, a conservative Republican,
is a relative newcomer to Florida politics. Although she has helped campaign
for several Republican candidates in the past through her involvement with the
Osceola Federated Republican Women's Group, she appears to have waited for the
right opportunity and the right vacancy for her to announce her candidacy. "I
have spent the last few years of my professional life really coming to terms
with who I am, what I believe in, and what I stand for," says Vasquez
Littlefield. "I grew up in a traditional Hispanic family where in my days of
youth, the women rarely took part in political conversations. Those topics of
discussion were often held by the men in the family, usually in another room
and away from earshot. I didn't really understand what it meant to be a
Republican or a Democrat until I went off to college. However, I was always
interested in the political process. I didn't completely get involved until I
graduated from the University of Central Florida's Political Science program
here in Orlando."
Although it took Vasquez Littlefield a formal education in politics to
understand our nation's political system, she stresses that her conservative
beliefs have never wavered. She has strong and educated opinions on issues
affecting our nation's seniors, the current state of our economy, and our
national security. "I believe in advocating for those who cannot help
themselves, in giving back to our communities to stimulate our local
economies, and above all, I believe in a strong military that defends our
nation at all costs in order to preserve the freedoms that we now enjoy."
Vasquez Littlefield is a practicing elder law attorney residing in
Kissimmee, Florida, a well respected Republican, and an advocate for Florida's
elderly population. Born in San Antonio, Texas, to a construction contractor
father and stay at home mother, Vasquez Littlefield moved to Central Florida
in 1997 following a family tragedy where she then met and married her husband
Ross. Vasquez Littlefield earned her undergraduate degree from the University
of Central Florida in 2001 in Political Science with a focus on International
Relations and Comparative Politics. She went on to earn her law degree from
Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, FL. Today, Vasquez Littlefield
operates a successful elder law firm dedicated to preserving senior's assets
helping them to qualify for state long-term healthcare benefits. Vasquez
Littlefield also serves as senior counsel for the JNN Foundation for Special
Needs Trusts, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping seniors and
special needs children.
Her experience advocating for seniors' rights, her strong conservative
political views, her professional experience and educational background, makes
Vasquez Littlefield a strong and viable candidate to fill Senator Mel
Martinez' vacancy once he leaves office.
