A.C. Moore Uses Oracle(R) Retail Applications to Help Improve Operational
Efficiencies and Support Long-Term Growth
Specialty Retailer Turns to Oracle and OLR for Hosted Oracle Retail
Merchandising Solution on Linux Platform
NEW YORK, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NRF 98th ANNUAL CONVENTION & EXPO
--
News Facts
-- A.C. Moore Arts & Craft, Inc. has gone live with Oracle(R) Retail
merchandising applications to help create value and support long-term
growth across its more than 130 stores.
-- A.C. Moore is leveraging the Oracle Retail applications as part of a
broader business transformation that is helping the company increase
sell-through of seasonal merchandise, preserve margins and derive more
value from the business. A typical A.C. Moore store offers more than
60,000 SKUs across 40 merchandise categories during the course of a
year, with more than 45,000 SKUs offered at any one time.
-- The specialty retailer is using the Oracle Retail applications to gain
insight to store, inventory and merchandising operations as well as to
more quickly adapt to changes in customer buying patterns and seasonal
inventory demand.
-- To help save money as well as reduce risk and complexity, A.C. Moore
selected OLR's hosted and Managed Application Solution (MAS) as the
delivery model. Not only did the delivery model help accelerate the
implementation of the Oracle Retail applications, but it also enabled
A.C. Moore's information technology group to stay focused on other
strategic initiatives vital to grow the business.
-- OLR's MAS model helped eliminate A.C. Moore's need to make
capital intensive purchases for its data center and offered a
leveraged
support model that mitigated the risks associated with finding,
attracting, and keeping application support resources.
-- Additionally, the Oracle Retail merchandising applications were
installed and managed on Oracle Enterprise Linux to help provide a
more
flexible, reliable, and cost effective solution. The retailer already
uses Oracle Database 10g.
-- The Oracle Retail applications provide A.C. Moore with a foundation
for
making insight-driven business decisions and the retailer expects the
solutions to help reduce inventory by as much as 20 percent. The
retailer is leveraging core merchandising applications for category
management, allocation, pricing and replenishment.
Supporting Quotes
-- "We expect our Oracle Retail implementation to help us deliver more
value to both customers and shareholders. The insight we gain from the
new systems provides us with a better understanding of customer
preferences and enables us to offer the right inventory at the right
price," said Dennis Hodgson, Chief Information Officer, A.C. Moore.
-- "We are excited about the significant cost savings we are helping
A.C. Moore realize in comparison to the typical on-premise model.
Now,
mid-sized retailers like A.C. Moore have a proven delivery model for
accepting and leveraging Oracle Retail -- applications that can
