Motorola's Enterprise Mobility Solutions Enable Retailers to Give Consumers
Better Shopping Experience

New enterprise mobility offerings help retailers give customers better
shopping experience while protecting consumer data

NEW YORK, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NRF 2009 (Booth #1623) -The
Enterprise Mobility business of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced new
retail solutions that are designed to improve the customer experience. With
new advanced data capture, mobile payment, voice and wireless security
solutions that improve associate productivity, protect customer data and
enhance the shopping experience, Motorola is providing store associates access
to information that will help yield better decisions and ultimately better
business results.

"Motorola is helping retailers tailor their offerings to meet the changing
needs of shoppers through secure access to data and information, when and
where they need it, while offering consumers a more personalized shopping
experience," said Frank Riso, senior director of retail solutions, Motorola
Enterprise Mobility business. "With our portfolio of retail solutions Motorola
can meet today's consumer and retailer needs by empowering the store associate
to transform the retail enterprise."

Improved Associate Productivity to Reduce Customer Lines
According to a recent Motorola study, 23 percent of shoppers reported that
they were unable to purchase everything they needed or wanted in stores this
holiday season. Empowering store associates with the enterprise mobility tools
they need to get the job done quickly and efficiently builds customer loyalty
and can boost sales - especially during peak shopping times.

Motorola's new DS9808 digital imager scanner, with its unique hybrid ergonomic
form factor, helps improve associate productivity in a variety of ways. It is
optimized to be used in both hands-free mode for rapid scanning of multiple
items and in handheld mode for scanning items as far away as 18" that may be
too heavy or bulky to be lifted on the counter. Offering the most versatile
working range and fastest swipe speed of any scanner in its class, associates
can reduce wait times and quickly check-out customers. With the ability to
read 1D, 2D and PDF-417 bar codes, the DS9808 supports business-critical
retail applications such as auto-population of forms, returns monitoring and
age verification, helping to improve the customer experience and build shopper
loyalty.

With Motorola's new Total Enterprise Access and Mobility (TEAM) Express
solution, customers can further improve in-store efficiencies and improve
employee responsiveness by providing associates with virtually instant
communications. The TEAM Express solution provides push-to-talk capability
between different types of devices, including voice-capable Motorola mobile
computers, bar code scanners, TEAM VoWLAN smartphones and Motorola two-way
radios -- ensuring workers have the right tools necessary to stay connected
and remain productive. Leveraging existing WLAN infrastructure, this
server-less solution provides a fast and easy to deploy path to basic
interoperable voice communications. Now, associates from the shop floor to the
loading dock to the warehouse can share information at the touch of a button,
without the need to carry additional devices.

Motorola's new PCI-compliant DCR-7X00-100R mobile payment module mobilizes the
point-of-sale and addresses a key challenge for retail and hospitality
establishments - to more quickly respond to and complete customers' credit,
debit and loyalty card transactions. By providing access to banking and
customer relationship management (CRM) systems, businesses can create a mobile
point of sale (MPOS) solution that is ideal for applications such as
line-busting in retail stores and car rental agencies and table side payment
at hospitality establishments

This new Payment Card Industry PIN Entry Device (PCI PED) for the MC70 and
MC75 Enterprise Digital Assistants (EDAs) includes a PIN pad for online debit
card transactions. With the new payment module, retailers can now offer
customers the choice of paying with credit or debit - while taking advantage
of lower transaction charges for online PIN debit transactions. The mobile
payment module augments Motorola's secure and PCI compliance-driven wireless
mobility solutions portfolio.

Delivering PCI-compliant WLAN Deployments for Secure Shopping
As more organizations move to a secure all-wireless enterprise, IT departments
continue to respond to an increasing number of wireless security threats that
can disrupt operations and affect the bottom line. Firewalls for wired
infrastructure have matured to provide comprehensive security for wired
networks, but are blind to many attacks initiated within the wireless
networks, putting confidential consumer data at risk.

The industry's first Wireless Firewall from Motorola provides clean separation
between wireless and wired networks, as required by the latest Data Security
Standards enforced by the Payment Card industry. In conjunction with Motorola
AirDefense wireless IPS, it ensures that shoppers' sensitive personal
information and credit card data is safeguarded at all times with unparalleled
traffic inspections at every network layer. The enhanced stateful Wireless
Firewall is easy to deploy and integrates with leading enterprise
authentication systems. Customers can leverage its built-in locationing engine
to enforce user identity-, role- and location-based security policies,
ensuring access to sensitive consumer data is accurately monitored and
controlled. Motorola's wireless LAN (WLAN) access points, switches and mobile
computing devices support the IEEE 802.11i security standard, as mandated by
the new PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) version 1.2.

Empowering Shoppers with Self-Service Solutions
As shoppers become increasingly more tech-savvy, the desire for self-service
shopping capabilities is on the rise. A recent Motorola holiday survey found
that of the 1 in 5 holiday shoppers who shopped in a store with a self-service
price checker/kiosk, nearly one-half used the kiosk and 86 percent of those
eventually purchased the checked item. Designed to empower customers with the
information they need to shop more effectively, Motorola's new MK500 is a
compact, affordable micro kiosk designed to run in-store, self-service
applications such as price check, gift card balance look-up and loyalty card
point balance data. With a focus on improving customer satisfaction, the MK500
Micro Kiosk enables shoppers to retrieve the information they need to make
more informed purchase decisions. Designed to be mounted just about anywhere
in the store, the MK500 enables customers to quickly find the information they
need without seeking a store associate. In turn, retailers can more
strategically deploy associates on the sales floor to help them spend more
time selling products and fielding customer inquiries.
