AXA Group Has Decreased Its Shareholding in Stora Enso

HELSINKI, Finland, Jan. 12, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Stora Enso Oyj was informed
on 12 January 2009 that the shares in the Company held by AXA S.A. and its
subsidiaries (AXA Group) (trade register no. 572 093 920 RCS Paris) has
decreased below 10% of the paid-up share capital on 5 January 2009.

With reference to Chapter 2, paragraph 10 of the Finnish Securities Markets Act,
Stora Enso Oyj is reporting that as of 5 January 2009 the shareholding of AXA
Group is as follows:
