BOSTON, MA, Jan 12 (MARKET WIRE) --
WorldCare Clinical, LLC (WCC), a leading imaging CRO for clinical trials
in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries,
today announced that Richard Walovitch, Ph.D., has joined the
organization as chief medical officer. Dr. Walovitch has over twenty
years of management experience directing the preclinical and clinical
development of therapeutics and diagnostics for pharmaceutical companies
of all sizes, and a proven track record in regulatory filings.
In his new position, Walovitch will provide medical leadership for the
entire organization by acting as the company's liaison to its network of
physicians and teaching hospitals as well as to its in-house medical
expertise through parent company, ProScan Imaging. In addition to
providing leadership to the operations and regulatory departments of the
organization, Walovitch will provide medical and scientific support to
sponsor clinical research teams, study investigators, and WCC project
teams.
Prior to joining WCC, Walovitch was the senior vice president of clinical
research at Acusphere, Inc., where he was responsible for the development
and implementation of worldwide preclinical and clinical strategies for
product opportunities in multiple therapeutic areas, including cardiology,
oncology, pulmonology, and analgesia. He previously served as vice
president of preclinical and clinical research at Epix Medical, which
included supervision of Phase I and II clinical trials for an MRI
angiography agent, and held various positions as research pharmacologist
and project clinician in the Imaging Agent Group at the DuPont Merck
Pharmaceutical Company. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the
National Institute on Drug Abuse's Addiction Research Center in the
Neurochemistry section. Walovitch has a doctorate in pharmacology from the
University of Illinois Medical Center and a bachelor's degree in biology
from the University of Illinois. He is an author of more than 100
peer-reviewed publications, mostly in the field of medical imaging.
"We are delighted that Richard has agreed to bring his exceptional
experience and leadership skills to WorldCare Clinical," said Managing
Director Michael O'Brien. "His successful track record as a trial
management executive, his regulatory approval experience in the U.S. and
European markets, and his deep understanding of medical imaging
technologies will greatly benefit WorldCare Clinical's growing business."
