BEAVERTON, OR, Jan 12 (MARKET WIRE) --
Tektronix, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and
monitoring instrumentation, today announced the Tektronix TDS3000
oscilloscope has been selected by editors of Test & Measurement World
magazine as a 2009 Test of Time award finalist. The TDS3000 digital
phosphor oscilloscope is one of 6 finalists chosen. The award honors a
product that has provided state-of-the-art service for at least five years
after its introduction to the market.

In previous years, the editors of Test & Measurement World selected the
award winner. This year, the winner will be determined by the magazine's
readers and editors who cast their vote between now and February 6, 2009.
The Test of Time award winner will be announced in the April issue of
Test & Measurement World and online April 1st at www.tmworld.com.

"For the 2009 Test of Time award, our editors are pleased to present to
our readers six strong finalists, including the Tektronix TDS3000 Series
oscilloscopes," said Rick Nelson, Test & Measurement World
editor-in-chief.

"We are extremely honored to be a finalist in the Test of Time category
for the Test & Measurement World 2009 industry awards," said Martyn
Etherington, vice president worldwide marketing, Tektronix. "This series
brought Tektronix' Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope (DPO) technology into a
small, portable instrument for the first time back in 1999. Thanks to a
forward-looking design and loyal following, Tektronix is proud to say that
the TDS3000 Series, currently known as the TDS3000C Series, is one of the
most popular oscilloscope families in the industry."

    About the TDS3000

The TDS3000 DPO allows users -- from digital designers, to manufacturers,
to service and repair technicians -- to take advantage of DPO-enabled
signal acquisition and analysis at an affordable price. DPO technology
acquires thousands of waveforms per second and uses intensity-grading to
indicate the frequency of occurrence of signal events. Frequently
occurring events appear brighter than infrequent ones, making it easy to
distinguish glitches, transients and modulation. The TDS3000 has a
full-resolution VGA display so even subtle details are clear. Once a user
sees an anomaly, they can easily take a closer look with advanced glitch,
runt, pulse or slew rate triggers. Optional software modules provide a
scalable solution. Applications like Limit Testing, advanced channel math,
Telecom Mask testing and HDTV video are supported through optional
software modules. The TDS3000 Series has evolved over time and is
currently known as TDS3000C. Some of the improvements include the e*Scope
built-in web page server, WaveAlert automatic anomaly detection, and USB
memory stick support.
