Elan Corporation, plc ("Elan") announces that Biogen Idec Inc. will post on its
web site after 4:30 p.m. (US Eastern Time) each Friday, from 9th January 2009,
information on confirmed cases of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy
(PML) that have occurred in TYSABRI treated patients since July 2006 . This
information can be found at www.biogenidec.com/tpme. The first such posting,
posted on Friday, includes only previously disclosed cases of PML. Biogen Idec
Inc. intends to post this information on its website until July 24, 2009, the
third anniversary of the reintroduction of TYSABRI into the market.
This does not affect Elan's usual disclosure policy whereby all material
developments will be the subject of regulatory announcement.
