Non-Intrusive, "IT-Friendly" Intelligent Energy Management System Can Be Easily
Installed in the Data Center of Each Controlled Building
AUSTIN, Texas--(Business Wire)--
Site Controls today announced the introduction of a new Site-Command Controller
form-factor, a 1U energy management controller for chain retailers and bank
branches. The rack mountable 19" 1U controller provides commercial buildings
with a more data center-compatible energy management system (EMS) for IT,
facilities and operations managers. Site Controls is currently conducting field
trials of the 1U controller with general availability in January 2009.

While providing traditional intelligent EMS functionality by managing
energy-consuming equipment such as lighting and HVAC, the Site-Command 1U
Controller enables on-site EMS equipment to be rack mounted in the data center
or IT server room, a first within the facility automation industry. This
flexibility allows customers to leverage server room investments such as battery
backup systems and power conditioning. In addition, the 1U form factor is easier
to install and provides greater flexibility in deployment. Other features of the
scalable 1U Site-Command controller include:

* Increased processing power and RAM to support integration with increasingly
sophisticated on-site devices,
* No moving parts on the controller mean fewer failures and costly technician
site visits.
* Power-failure detection for safe shutdown of the energy management system.
* Additional interface capabilities and more power at the site level. This
extended communication ability includes RS232 and RS485 connections and multiple
serial ports, providing connectivity to a greater variety of equipment.
* Designed to default controlled equipment to the "ON" position in the case of a
network failure at the site, ensuring that retailers and banks can continue with
business as usual.

The Site-Command energy management solution allows retailers and bank branches
to centrally monitor and manage a location`s lighting, air conditioning,
signage, refrigeration, trash compactors and other equipment across hundreds or
thousands of locations. With Site-Command, chain retailers and banks can
dramatically lower energy and maintenance expenses without sacrificing customer
comfort.

"Site Controls believes there needs to be greater convergence between the IT and
facilities teams, and we are beginning to see this trend develop in the
industry," said Colin Bester, CTO, Site Controls. "EMS systems are traditionally
bulkier in their form factor and require a more intrusive, costly installation.
Site Controls is the first and only EMS provider to offer an internet appliance
designed to meet the needs of the IT department, while still providing robust
facility and energy management capabilities to meet the needs of the facilities
department. The low cost of deployment and the dramatic cost savings will make
the entire organization happy, especially the CFO."

In addition to the Site Command 1U controller, Site Controls will continue to
invest in and support its standard EMS version controller. For more information
