India adds 8.12 mln GSM mobile users in Dec-industry

 NEW DELHI, Jan 12 (Reuters) - India mobile operators added
8.12 million subscribers to their GSM-based networks in
December to take total users to 257.85 million, data from the
Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI) showed on
Monday.

  * The figures for Idea include those of Spice
Communication SPCM.BO. Spice in June agreed to be bought over
by Idea.
 Note: The COAI represents nine telecoms firms who have
GSM-based networks. There are five other companies that offer
GSM services, including Reliance Communications Ltd (RLCM.BO),
whose subscribers are mainly on the rival CDMA network.
 Reliance Communications is not included in the total user
figure above, as it publishes its numbers separately.
