Nikkei slides more than 4 pct on Sony, strong yen

TOKYO Jan 13 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei share average slid more than 4 percent on Tuesday, with Sony Corp (6758.T) tumbling 7.5 percent after a report of operating loss, while its high-tech peers were also hit by a stronger yen.

The benchmark Nikkei .N225 shed 4.2 percent or 369.61 points to 8,467.09. The broader Topix .TOPX lost 3.8 percent to 822.16.

Japanese markets were closed on Monday for a national holiday.
