Nikkei slides 3 pct on yen, Sony seen down

TOKYO Jan 13 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei share average slid 3 percent on Tuesday, with Sony Corp (6758.T) awash with sell orders after a report of operating loss, while its high-tech peers were also hit by a stronger yen.

The benchmark Nikkei .N225 shed 3.2 percent or 280.28 points to 8,556.52.

The broader Topix .TOPX lost 3.1 percent to 828.28.

Japanese markets were closed on Monday for a national holiday. (Reporting by Aiko Hayashi)
