Bill Winey named Chief Operating Officer of Medallion Transport & Logistics, LLC

MOORESVILLE, N.C.--(Business Wire)-- Bill Winey, an acknowledged leader in the transportation industry, has been named Chief Operating Officer of the newly-formed non-asset-based carrier, Medallion Transport & Logistics, LLC of Mooresville, NC. The appointment was announced by Gary Weilheimer, Medallion President and Chief Executive Officer. "We are thrilled to have an executive with Bill`s background and experience join our organization," Mr. Weilheimer said in announcing the appointment. "During his 33 years in the industry, Bill has held positions of increasing responsibility for carriers of all sizes, including some of the country`s largest. He is the ideal person to manage the day-to-day operations of Medallion." Over the years, Winey has worked in administration, safety, sales and operations for companies such as Daily Express, Inc., Carlisle, PA; Warren Transport, Waterloo, IA; Graham Transportation, Levittown, PA; Dallas Mavis, Kenosha, WI; and Greatwide Logistics, owner of ATF, Dallas Mavis, and Cheetah Transportation. Mr. Winey joined the former American Trans Freight in January, 1995 as operations manager. He moved to Cheetah Transportation in 2001 as Executive Vice President and General Manager before its acquisition by Greatwide Logistics, and remained after Greatwide acquired Cheetah. Under his leadership and guidance at Cheetah, revenue levels grew from 23M to over 70M primarily through agent development, superior service and high safety standards. A key to his success was the service levels provided to the Agent and Owner operators. During his seven-year stint, Cheetah was audited twice by the Federal DOT. The firm achieved the highest grade possible in each audit. Mr. Winey has been directly responsible for growing each company, and exhibiting high standards of service and safety.
