ANTANANARIVO Jan 28 (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of opposition supporters packed the main square of Madagascar's capital on Wednesday for another anti-government rally called by opposition leader and city mayor Andry Rajoelina.

Witnesses in the May 13 Plaza estimated the crowd number as at least 40,0000, adding that armed police were watching closely but the mood was calm. A previous demonstration on Monday degenerated into violence and looting, killing nearly 40 people. (Writing by Andrew Cawthorne and Richard Lough)
