TOKYO Jan 29 (Reuters) - Japanese utility Shikoku Electric Power Co (9507.T) said on Thursday it plans to boost capacity at its sole solar plant by 4 megawatts in stages by the business year that starts in April 2020.

Shikoku's solar plant in Ehime, western Japan, currently has a capacity of only 0.3 megawatt. The company plans to start operations of a 1.7 megawatt solar facility from around spring 2011.

It also aimed to bring online a 2.3 megawatt unit by the business year that starts in April 2020.

A company spokesman said the company expects to spend roughly 3 to 4 billion yen ($33.30-44.40 million) in constructing the units. ($1=90.08 Yen) (Reporting by Osamu Tsukimori)
