CARLSTADT, N.J.--(Business Wire)-- Cadent, the leading provider of 3-D digital solutions for the orthodontic and dental industries, today announced that the company has signed distribution agreements and began sales with Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC), Benco Dental, Burkhart Dental, and Goetze Dental. Under the terms of the agreements, Henry Schein, Benco, Burkhart, and Goetze will market the iTero digital impression system to the more than 100,000 dental professionals they collectively reach every two to three weeks. In 2008, the iTero installation base increased to more than 600 systems and the company experienced a 500 percent increase in case volume. iTero users have an extremely high utilization rate, with more than 90 percent of their impressions conducted digitally. Additionally, the combined Cadent iTero and OrthoCAD divisions processed over 350,000 cases in 2008 and more than 1.6 million cases cumulatively. "Our company has successfully marketed direct-to-dentists since the launch of iTero in early 2007. Since that time, Cadent has established an enthusiastic and loyal user base across North America and we are implementing this channel strategy to accelerate iTero`s adoption and maintain its leadership position in the expanding digital impression segment. In keeping with our philosophy of superior customer service, this distribution network provides dentists with a choice of distributor in every U.S. market," said Terence J. Gunning, chief executive officer of Cadent. "Our distribution partners enjoy a close relationship with their customer base. Their ability to consistently provide a high level of service across a very broad scale was a key factor in moving forward. We believe this distributor network will enable Cadent to rapidly accelerate market access to iTero." Cadent iTero iTero technology utilizes a ground breaking powder-free intra-oral scanner that takes digital images to capture the 3-D geometry of the tooth preparation area. The digital model is magnified and displayed while the patient is still in the chair. This enhanced visualization, plus real-time analytical tools, enables the clinician to make adjustments as necessary before completing the scanning process. Once the dentist approves the image, the file is sent electronically to a Cadent-partnering dental laboratory. All of this takes approximately 3 minutes of the clinicians` time. The laboratory reviews the digital file and sends it electronically to Cadent`s manufacturing facility for milling into the physical model. Cadent returns the physical model to the local dental laboratory which applies the aesthetics and delivers the end result-a beautiful, precise-fitting restoration-to the dentist, all within standard service times. iTero is commercially available throughout the United States and Canada.
