Reid says Senate may pass stimulus plan today
WASHINGTON |
WASHINGTON Feb 5 (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he believes he has the votes to pass a massive economic stimulus package later on Thursday.
"We hope to have a vote today," Reid told reporters, just days after Democrats admitted that they were short and needed at least a few Republicans to pass the measure.
"Do we have the votes? We believe we do. We believe we can find two Republicans of good will" to back the plan, and, with Democrats, avoid a Republican procedural roadblock, Reid said.
