UPDATE 1-News Corp executive Mockridge joins BSkyB board

LONDON Feb 10 (Reuters) - British pay-TV broadcaster BSkyB (BSY.L) has appointed Tom Mockridge, the head of News Corp's (NWSA.O) European television operations outside Britain, as a non-executive director, BSkyB said on Tuesday.

Mockridge will replace Chase Carey, chief executive of top U.S. satellite TV provider DirecTV Group (DTV.O), who is resigning from the board after six years, BSkyB said.

Mockridge is also chief executive of Sky Italia. He was promoted to the additional role of chief executive of European television for parent News Corp last year.

News Corp's European television operations include stakes in European broadcasters including struggling German pay-TV company Premiere PREGn.DE. (Reporting by Georgina Prodhan)
