UK's Darling says Geithner focused on protectionism

ROME (Reuters) - British Finance Minister Alistair Darling said on Friday the new U.S. treasury secretary, Timothy Geithner, was very focused on the problem of protectionism and aware of America's "obligations" to the rest of the world.
Darling, speaking to Reuters after his first meeting with Geithner at a gathering of G7 finance ministers in Rome, said the new U.S. administration was very anxious to engage with Europe and the rest of the world to tackle the financial crisis.
