The World's First Movie About Kimchi, 'Kimchikhan,' Will Make Its Hollywood
Debut in 2D and 3D in December 2009

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- A unique hybrid of documentary and
informative travel excursion, Kimchikhan aims to reveal the healthiest and
tastiest cooking secrets in the search for the 6th taste bud!

A fascinating story of health and the quest for longevity, the story
transports us on an eye-opening trip to South Korea in hopes to change the
basis of the food essentials we consume everyday. In the United States, the
food the average American consumes is fast and satisfying to taste, but rarely
gives the nutrients the body needs for a healthy lifestyle.

The food that all human beings need is one that is satisfying and tasty but
also keeps our mind and body healthy.

Through this journey, the main chef in the story creates a groundbreaking new
menu with an entirely different preparation and process for an ultimate green
and healthy cooking culture to discover the 6th taste bud that is beyond the
salty, sweet, spicy, sour and even greasy tastes. The story reveals the secret
to the health effects of kimchi (a spicy cabbage dish) as well as many other
Korean foods -- which is fermentation.

The idea behind it is a "slow food" philosophy, which takes a long time to
prepare and has an equally long positive effect on the body. These slow foods
are known to revive the body and have powerful healing effects. The story
takes us on an adventure, explaining the process through interviews and
discoveries with renowned chefs, professors as well as restaurants in the
United States, Korea and Japan.

We discover that the majority of the salt, sugar, soy sauce, and oils we
consume on a daily basis are hazardous to our health at the sake of satisfying
certain taste buds. The chef in the story reinvents the basics of these
staples by implementing a pure and natural process and ingredients. Through
various interesting characters and situations, the chef learns that the root
of good food and medicine are one in the same. At the end of the trip, the
story reveals a healthy and innovative 31-item menu that incorporates the
sixth taste bud and the fermentation process, which includes impressive side
items that reinvent kimchi into its fusion cuisine.

Steve Shin, the producer and director of Kimchikhan has been preparing for
this documentary for over 20 years, with a life-altering experience in a fatal
car accident that almost left him dead and discovering the natural healing
powers of food that revived his life.
