UPDATE 1-France says favours common EU approach at G20
(Adds details)
PARIS Feb 21 (Reuters) - France is in favour of a common European approach at the G20 summit in London in April, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Saturday.
"We need a common position for the summit in London," Sarkozy told journalists at the opening of a farm fair in Paris, ahead of a meeting in Berlin on Sunday to prepare the G20 summit.
The G20 meeting in London aims to produce a co-ordinated response to the world economic downturn.
"I will not associate myself to a position that does not give an ambitious response to this deep crisis," Sarkozy added.
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Sarkozy on Friday called for the G20 summit in April to make "strong and concrete" proposals to fight the global financial crisis.
